Windows update 8.1 Cortana has been launched in U.S. But it will come to India only next year it seems. So if you are looking to update you OS follow these simple steps:
1. If you have a Microsoft account go to appstudio.windowsphone.com and Register you email id.
2. Download an application called preview for developers from windows store.
3. After you enrolled yourself in Appstudio, open the preview for developers app and sign in with your Microsoft account.
4. Then goto Settings-> Phone Update-> Search for updates.
5. If you are using Lumia amber you might need five preliminary update downloads before you can download 8.1.
6. In case if your phone is running Lumia black you may need three and then 8.1.
7. Downloading the preliminary firmwares takes small time but downloading the 8.1 OS takes a long time may be an hour.
8. So pack you phone with juice before updating.
These steps are 100% legit and bug free ways. Infact Microsoft is encouraging developers from world to preview it. There has 180,000 downloads of the new OS and not a single bug report.
Now coming to the voice command CORTANA. Its marvellous. Now we also have notification panels.
